West Valley Order
This in from the Professor:
Hey Guys,
I talked to Tony Young yesterday at WVH and he is now has an account with 3-Racing.
He is putting an order together now and is going to submit it by the end of this week.
So, he asked me to pass along that if anyone wants parts to please let him know this week.
tp
3racing has just about the entire car but the 2mm offset parts might be the most usable from their line up. Check out the archives for pics of 3racing stuff.

Lessons from WCM exhibition round.
WCM is a nice little place to race. Here's some information that might be helpful on your next visit.
Racing is $12 for first class. CASH ONLY. (you might have to run to a gas station that just got their first fax machine so you can guess the look on the face of the attendant when you ask to run your debit card)
Power in the building may not supply enough to your charger if it is running on a/c. Bring a power supply.
Bring your own table and chair. Most racers face the wall. I suggest for comradere that we pit so we face each other and other racers. (such a selfish hobby)
The F103GT will be happiest on foams. 20º - 27º is probably your temp range if on rubber.
Short straight.. maybe 70'. Bring gearing choices.
Carpet sucks up battery life. Plan on less run time than aspalt... maybe by 30%. ( my numbers here might be wacked out since I didn't cyle or repeak before racing.
Track layout is okay but could be more challenging.
I suggest 2x 20 rounds for race times. 20 minutes should work on one well charged pack.
Paul's new paint job:

Anthony brought out the #68 Porsche and it looks great too. Here's the real car it's patterned after:

Bill Hammond brought his Porsche too. Ran two rounds and had to run so didn't get to talk after the racing was over. We get his notes next time. Clete had some ups and downs. All in all I think it was a good time. I also would expect some new drivers to join us next time as it is a fun and easy class. Saturday is the best exposure for sure as we answered a lot of questions about the series and the F103GT.

Excerpt from post on RC Tech.net

Porsche Cup is a simple format for racing. A Tamiya F103GT kit ( or any 2WD 190mm chassis that can run touring car tires and rims ) and a 190mm HPI Porsche 911 body (#7335) with the Silver Can 540 Mabuchi motor. It's patterned off the real Porsche Carrera Cup series that offers a one-make series with serious performance.
What are the races like?
Two races. Starting order for Race #1 is the finishing order from previous round. Race #1 - 15 min "Sprint" race. Finishing order reverses the grid for Race #2 meaning race #1 winners will have to run from the back of the pack in the "Feature" or Race #2. The Feature race is 45 minutes long. Current batteries including the lipo's might make this distance if geared properly but a mandatory pitstop in the Feature Race forces all competitors to stop. Pitstops add to the excitement and open up chances to gain positions on the field.
How many cars can run a per race?
If you have AMB scoring and timing your software and system allows for 20 cars on the grid. Running 20 cars is non-stop action and a lot of fun. The series has points for all 20 cars on the grid.
What are the regulations on the chassis?
A Tamiya F103GT kit ( or any 2WD 190mm chassis that can run touring car tires and rims ) and a 190mm HPI Porsche 911 body (#7335) with the Silver Can 540 Mabuchi motor. Those who choose to run Lipo will add 4 ounces of ballast to the chassis to compensate weight differences between lipo and NiMH. BBS or spoked rims only (sorry, no dish rims in real racing... or you could sharpie spokes on the rims). Cars should appear scale in appearance to make the series attractive to the newcomer. We will provide a template to anyone to add number stickers in a very affordable way to each car. The kit motor (540 Mabuchi) is the series motor plus replacements are around $15.

Exhibition race - Round 2
We are running an exhibition race at WCM Raceway in Orem (see map below in old post). We are planning on two rounds (15-20) and practice. Some are bringing 12th scales too but Porsche Cup with everyone there should have 10 cars on the grid.
Paul, Ryan, Troy, Jim Fred, Ants, Clete, Bill, Kent, Jeremy, and Ben. We might have more that I don't know about so please contact me if I don't have you listed here.
Look out for Team Cheese!
