March 22nd race re-cap

I haven't seen the timing sheets but Paul Hatfield won both rounds for the first race of the 2008 season. Nice run Paul. I scrapped together two 2nd places despite all the mayhem. Troy Kendall took a couple of thirds. We all dipped into the well of cold temperature tires with me digging up the 20º's.

The added power was a real treat. The car is overpowered but a lot of fun to try to handle. The track was very dusty but what do you expect when it's the first race of the season. The asphalt took the winter very well. Paul spent an hour and a half blowing the winter dirt and schtuff off. Thanks Paul.

Some how I pulled an Anthony Aquila running to the car for batteries. Now I have a new found respect for that cat. Showing up with an unprepared car from last year... last year's differential...dead batteries...transmitter batteries dead.. all the good stuff Anthony dealt with every week. I didn't have a broken car but I was inspired by the Aquila way of having fun racing.

Has anyone raced the MLP chassis? There's been an explosion of Pro 10 stuff. $300 isn't the ideal starting price for a chassis but that seems the going rate. I think a pro10 chassis with HPI's 200mm Porsche body would look really cool.

Speaking of cool. After running against Paul with the Novak stock brushless motor I'm convinced that we can allow up to 23T motors for those running brushed. Especially when it's hard enough to keep the power to the ground but on the straights Paul had a nice advantage with his set up. We'll know more once we get to Apex and run on a prepped surface.

Next month we'll race on April 26th. Once a month is just the perfect amount for Porsche Cup with all the other racing going on. I'm hoping that several others who raced Porsche Cup will come and race again with the new power addition. The cars were a blast to run.
