Time suck...

Every now and then you see something that makes you go, "who in the hell has time like that?" All things said I like the concept but what does it say of the use of remote control cars?

American Le Mans Series

Make sure to watch the ALMS race on ABC this next Sunday from Long Beach. The street racing this year has been intense with P2 challenging the P1 class. But for us locals its more about following the Corsa Ferrari in the GT2 class. After their strong showing in 4th at St. Petersburg this is a team to watch. They had only 2 hours of test time with the new Dunlop tires.

How cool is it that we have our very own Ferrari team based right out of Salt Lake City?! Jeremy, Paul, and I took a tour of the facility this last friday and got up close with the cars. Too bad Anthony is in Phoenix. The one guy who is all things ferrari and no where to be found. He might get his chance come May during the ALMS race at Miller Motorsports Park.

April 26th round 2 at Apex Hobby

Quick update: Round #2 will be held at Apex Hobby. This will consolidate at least one of the locations for on-road racing. It's too bad Jeff couldn't make our planning meeting and posted dates conflicting but you have to say that things are getting better. Corey, Rod, and I are excited to bring Porsche Cup to Orem. The added speed will be a real treat. If the track is wide open you can expect us to throw down some road domes to add some challenges to the track.

Utahrc.com now has a calendar with all the on-road / off-road calendar dates in one location. That wouldn't have happened without some of the items discussed. Also there is more collaboration between locations and series. This should help the racer who has the means to race often.

Aquila-ung to race April 26th event!

Great news. I just got off the phone with Anthony Aquila. He's planning on racing with us on April 26th. Who needs to carry the mantle when the mantle comes from Phoenix to race!

I've heard back from several racers that they will be attending this round. Early days but it looks like it should be a decent field. Plus the cup cars should be a blast on the prepped surface at Apex.

I found this on Youtube:

You get the feeling that maybe the Porsche could hang with an IRL car in the twisty bits? It's a long shot but the guy tried on an open track day...so I don't think that means much.

Even better news on the GT3 Body set from Tamiya

LED lights! Hello Porsche Cup night race! We will have to schedule a summer race that runs in to dusk. Now if that doesn't add to the realism of racing then I'm without a pulse. It's at $37 from Tower...8( We'll have to be sure about conditions to break out such a nice body set for an hour or more of racing in the dark.
